In 2023, Shara Hegde was named the Hart Vision Equity and Innovation Leader of the Year by the California Charter Schools Association.

Principal, Alpha: Cornerstone Academy Preparatory School
I come from a very long line of educators. This work is so important. Education is powerful and can change our world. Because we serve students from TK-8th grade and have small grade level cohorts, our students get to know each other well and form deep bonds.
Alpha: Cornerstone builds community across grade levels and we help our students set their sights on college early. Students get opportunities to see what’s possible, from visits to our high school campus, colleges, as well as trips to our nation’s capital in Washington, D.C., and the California state capitol in Sacramento.
