Ellyn Magaña

Ellyn Magaña serves as the Director of Academics. In this role, she will be supporting all schools to implement Alpha’s academic vision and model with excellence.

Ellyn began her career at Alpha: Cornerstone in 2012 as a Teach for America Corps Member teaching third grade. After completing her commitment, she joined the founding team of KIPP Heritage Academy, teaching middle school and supporting school start up. Ellyn returned to Alpha after two years at KIPP Heritage, joining the Alpha: Jose Hernandez staff as an Assistant Principal. After having success as an Assistant Principal, Ellyn was asked to join the Network Team in a new role, the Director of Student Supports. In this role, she set the vision and structures for the Reach Block at the K-8s, supported coaching and development for our Residency program, supported Science PD at Alpha: Cindy, began and oversaw our after-school partnership with Boys and Girls Club, and began to lay the foundations for ELD network-wide, including curriculum and coaching for ELD at all of our Alpha sites.

Ellyn attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and received credentials for running and managing non-profit organizations. She then attended Loyola Marymount University and received her Masters in Education with an emphasis on Policy and Administration.
